Latest news #6

Well, its been a while since our last update but things here are really quiet, as usual during the winter months. A couple of news worth mentioning:

KOLOSSOS BC PRESENTED AEGEAN AS ITS "GOLDEN" SPONSOR
In a ceremony that took place last Monday at a city's central hotel, Kolossos basket club, the island's team sports pride, presented Aegean Airlines as its "golden" sponsor. Aegean from the beginning of the league season is the main sponsor on Kolossos game shirt.


During the ceremony Aegean's VP Mr E. Vassilakis noticed the importance of Rhodes on the airline's operations and stated their goal for basing 3 aircrafts at Diagoras during 2012 summer season. He, finally, indicated their will to hire locals for cabin crew positions.

KALYMNOS ISLAND ADDED ON RHODES PSO ROUTES
Kalymnos island, the third biggest of the Dodecanese in terms of population, will at last have air connection to Rhodes as the route was approved and added to the currently ongoing tender for PSO routes.
The route was added in the already operative Rhodes-Kos-Leros-Astypalaia which will from 1 April become Rhodes-Kos-Kalymnos-Leros-Astypalaia. The tender asks for minimum 3 weekly flights during summer season and 2 during winter with the price for the Rhodes-Kalymnos leg being set at maximum 58E/one way.

NEW GREEK AIRLINE OPENING BASE AT DIAGORAS

Omega Airlines, a newly formed Greek carrier, will most probably base aircraft(s) at Diagoras Airport for 2012 summer season as it seeks cabin crew personnel indicating that the position refers to Rhodes.
