Minoan Air Routes - Summer 2012

After some back and forth, Minoan finally announced their initial summer schedule valid as of tomorrow 11 July. The airline for the time being will concentrate operations at their base airport of Heraklion and will actually be the 4th airline flying the Heraklion-Rhodes route during the summer season. The route will be served 4 times per week, on Mondays through Thursdays, with morning departures from both airports. Prices seem to follow competition with the airline asking 170E for a round trip.

June 2012 Traffic

June stats were released today and as you will notice are full in red. In general, June didn't go as bad as originally expected. Here are some things worth mentioning:
- Domestic traffic keeps going down, no reasoning is required we think
- International traffic lost some 10% but compared to 2010 summer its up almost 15%. 2012 June was running on -15 to 17% until the Greek elections.
- Russia, for the first time, climbed to the 2nd position of arrivals since it experienced a 30% increase while Germany gave some 10.000 less arrivals, stepping down to 3rd position.
- Scandinavia and Finland were -except Norway- more or less even to last June contributing some stability. Norway gave a tremendous increase of almost 40%.
- Poland, Israel and Belgium gave losses worth being examined, especially Poland's -45%.
