Here are March stats which include first international arrivals of the season during March last week. Interestingly:
- domestic arrivals are on the positive since, well, we don't remember since when but it should be a looooong time ago
- UK arrivals gave a thrilling ~185 passengers/flight, that's almost 100% full planes for both Easyjet and Ryanair
- Italy arrivals consisted of two flights; that's 100 passengers/flight, much better than 2012's ~50/flight
- Both France and Germany arrivals are from a single flight respectively

Good news, but don't get too excited. Western Easter fell over a week earlier this year (31/03) than last year (08/04) - bringing forward departures into March.
ReplyDeleteNext year both Easter dates are 20th April - so there will be no early boost.
To put the UK 1.673 arrivals in perspective the BBC reported 1.7 million passengers leaving the UK for Easter, so we got a miniscule fraction. It is good that the flights were full, but the lack of early season flights remains a challenge.
Most of the UK departures were to Spain, the Canaries, Tunisia, Egypt and Turkey - most of which have a similar climate to ours in spring. The difference? They were open and ready for business - 99% of Rhodes was not, again.
Totally agree with you. We just pointed out the positive factor of fully loaded planes from the UK. Figures for 2012 and 2011 were 110 and 135 passengers/flight respectively while UK flights amounted 20 for 2012 and 4 for 2011 - 18 were this March.
