NEW ROUTE FROM RYANAIR
Ryanair have announced a new route for the summer, Bournemouth-Rhodes. Service begins on We 28 March 2012 and will be on a weekly basis. (Ryanair schedule)
SUMMER 2012 UPDATES
Tor Air have uploaded on their summer schedule a new route to Rhodes from Birmingham. Although not yet bookable it will be twice per week from first week of May till last week of October. (Tor Air schedule)
Regarding flights from Italy, besides the announced schedules from Ryanair, Easyjet and Airone, the two other major carriers BluExpress and Neos have not yet upoloaded their summer schedules but fist connections can be seen in their booking engines. BluExpress has added Milan-Malpensa to the existing Rome and Catania connections while Neos at the moments shows connection only to Milan-Malpensa and Verona.
PSO ROUTES TENDER
According to nationwide press, 6 airlines passed successfully the technical stage of the ongoing PSO routes tender and will contest based on the lower price offered for each route. For the 4 routes that serve nearby islands from/to Rhodes, Olympic was the single bidder and is expected to continue flying 3 of them (Rhodes-Kastelorizo, Rhodes-Karpathos-Kasos-Sitia, Rhodes-Kos-Kalymnos-Leros-Astypalaia) while Sky Express was the single bidder in the fourth and is also expected to keep flying the Rhodes-Chios-Samos-Mytilini-Limnos route.
AEGEAN SUFFERED BIRD STRIKE @ RHO
Local newspaper "Rodiaki" stated that Aegean's last Monday morning flight from Athens to Rhodes suffered a bird strike while landing at Diagoras airport resulting on a 2 1/2 hrs delay of the return leg as a new aircraft was dispatched to conduct the flight. (Link)
FAS RHODES PILOTS ACADEMY ANNOUNCES FREE LESSONS
Rhodes Pilots Academy "FAS" announced that it will offer free lessons to individuals interested in the aviation industry. The lessons will include ground school where basics of the industry and the profession will be analyzed as well as flying.
